About me

Bio

I am currently a professor at the University of Málaga in Spain, in the Department of Applied Mathematics.

I studied for my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the same university, and later obtained my Doctoral degree by defending my thesis, which focused on a new method of mathematical optimization with applications to artificial neural networks. In the course of my studies, I specialized in neural networks, computational learning, and image analysis, publishing several articles in international journals on these topics.

For nine years before joining the university, I worked as an R&D manager in a private company, where I further specialized in the digital processing of medical images, specifically in neuroimaging, developing products and services related to the use of new technologies in neuroscience.

This experience allowed me to learn the programming language R, in which I have developed over 20 packages that I use for my research and, to some extent, for teaching.
