I am currently a professor at the University of Málaga in Spain, in the Department of Applied Mathematics.
I studied for my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the same university, and later obtained my Doctoral degree by defending my thesis on a new method of mathematical optimization with applications to artificial neural networks. I specialized in neural networks, computational learning, and image analysis.
Before joining the university, I worked for nine years as an R&D manager in a private company, focusing on digital processing of medical images (neuroimaging) and developing products for neuroscience.
This experience led me to expert mastery of R, developing over 20 packages for research and teaching.
Member of the Círculo de Ilusionistas Malagueños and founder of the R users’ group in Málaga.
